This waterfall is located west of Bogotá in the village of Tobia in the municipality of Nimaima. The region is mountainous and is bathed by the Tobia river and Rio Negro. There are also several streams among which we find the one called El Tigre – this is where we will do our trail.
The trail starts at El Paso del Rejo (714 m.a.s.l), it goes up slightly for about three hours till we reach the Barandillas waterfall (803 m.a.s.l.). During the tour one can observe bamboos, yarumo and other vegetation typical of the Andean forest. It is also possible to observe a variety of birds of beautiful colors.
After visiting the waterfall we will take a trail ascending towards Nimaima (1058 m.a.s.l.). On this trail we can observe extensive sugarcane crops, fruit trees such as oranges, tangerines, guavas, guamas and guanábanas among others.
Distance of the trail: 9km. The majority of the route you need to walk through the water, so it is important that you wear appropriate clothing and shoes and bring some spare cloth to change when you get back to the bus.
6:45 am – 6:00 pm. Meeting point: Carrera 7ma with Calle 63 (in front of the grocery store of Carulla). Advance booking is required.
Each person should bring their lunch and hydration. You have to be prepared for climate changes.
